The Calm Coach Training has been created for health professionals, teachers & parents. 

 

It is a series of short online courses that teach you a combination of  you immediate tools tall of the Calm Fairies a package of all of the short online courses is a guide for anxious kids to teach them the tools they need to feel calm.

Calm Coach offers: 

  • Private sessions for kids

  • Workshops for parents; teachers; counsellors; youth mentors; allied health professionals

  • A full 6 month training to become a Calm Coach so that you can also help anxious kids feel calm

  • The introductory training to be able to work with Calm Fairies in Children's Hospitals & medical settings

Help anxious kids & teens feel safe & calm

in medical settings.

The first step is the Calm Coach training to learn all of the theory and tools that we will then tailor to the medical setting in on the job training.

I've worked as a Yoga Therapist in children's hospital wards since 2005, helping children to feel safe and calm when they are anxious before surgeries, in extreme pain, in a mental health crisis and during medical procedures. 

I am a Yoga Australia Level 3 Senior Registered Yoga Teacher with 15 years teaching experience; a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher (RCYT) and the creator of Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Training which is a Registered Children's Yoga School (RCYS) at international standard with Yoga Alliance.  

 

I have been a Yoga Teacher Trainer since 2012 and have trained in other speciality areas including: Yoga Therapy; AcroYoga & Children's Fitness. From my tertiary studies, I have experienced working as a classroom teacher in primary school and in Children's TV at Network TEN. 

I have been delivering kids yoga classes and one on one sessions for 14 years. I have dedicated my life to learning about children's development and I am passionate about helping anxious kids feel calm.   

Calm Fairies

Calm Fairies help children feel safe and calm in medical settings. 

Having time to play and be imaginative in a clinical setting can provide great therapy for children to process and integrate traumatic experiences.

 

Calm Fairies bring a delightful, yet gentle, presence to the room-  playing calm music, reading stories, doing craft activities, guiding patients through calm breathing techniques, restorative yoga poses and deep relaxation. 

If you would like to be a Calm Fairy, the first step is the Calm Coach training.

The training will give you all of the theory and basic techniques required, then through on the job training (funded with scholarships) we will adapt those practices for the medical setting you will work within.

Calm Coach Training

A Calm Coach is a guide for anxious kids to teach them the tools they need to feel calm. You can learn to be a Calm Coach and facilitate one on one sessions or small groups. 

Drawing on a fusion of modalities including therapeutic movement; restorative yoga; breathing practices; mindfulness; art therapy; play therapy and coaching- there is something to meet the needs of every kid experiencing anxiety.

I've been fascinated in learning about childhood development, psychology, education and movement my whole life. When I couldn't find a training like this to undertake myself, I created it for myself- and for you- so that we could have the right combination of tools and knowledge to truly help kids!

 

I studied the work of the world's leading experts: Bessel Van Der Kolk; Daniel Siegel; Pat Odgen; Peter Levine and co. and combined it with my 14 years experience as a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher and working as a Yoga Therapist in Paediatric Hospital wards. 

I have packaged up this content into easy to understand frameworks ("the how") that include important theory (the "why") + simple tools ("the what"). 

As your facilitator, I bring real life stories from my current in-the-field experiences to illustrate key points during the training.

An 8 day training that is delivered in TWO x 4 day immersions across 6 months at the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.

* May 28-31  (4 days)

* Nov 5-8      (4 days)

There will also be online, group mentor sessions once a fortnight from June to November. This is a time and place to discuss case studies, ask questions, listen to guest speakers. Sessions are recorded do you can watch back at a time that suits you if you can't make it live.
