Stacey Louise Headshot_edited.jpg

About Your Training Facilitator  - Stacey

Stacey Louise is one of Australia's most experienced and inspirational Children's Yoga Teachers.

Having always loved being with children, Stacey wanted to be a Kindy or Primary School Teacher, but once she started studying a Bachelor of Education, she found that it wasn't creative enough for her. She changed pathways and completed a Bachelor of Communication instead, which landed her a job working at Network TEN in Children's Television production followed by live to air news production. All the while, Stacey was practicing yoga and teaching group fitness classes before and after work.

Eventually the stress of the TV industry got too much and coupled with a diagnosis of an autoimmune disease, the decision was made to prioritise health.

She started her own business in 2005, teaching Yoga and fitness classes for both adults and children. Since 2012, Stacey has been facilitating Children’s Yoga Teacher Training. The Inspired Kids Training courses are practical, authentic, down to earth and whole-hearted. You will be encouraged to weave your own unique gifts, experiences, values and qualities into your interactions with children.

Over the past two decades, there have been many full circle moments, where the side steps along her career path have been beautifully integrated. For example, Stacey’s first experience of meditation was in a high school drama class- now she gets to teach meditation to school students. Her dream to be a Kindy teacher has turned into her dream job of teaching yoga to kindy aged children and facilitating training for their teachers. Her experience working in TV production and her desire to use the medium of television to educate and inspire kids to move their bodies mindfully, has led to the creation of many videos, TV appearances and online courses. And her greatest legacy is “Calm Fairies” where Stacey used her own experience of enduring hundreds of needles and medical appointments to create a program that helps children in hospital to cope with the stress of medical settings using the tools of Yoga.

Beyond all of her qualifications and achievements, it is Stacey’s passion for holding space and empowering others to find their way ‘home’ to their hearts and their true self that makes her shine the brightest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can I start teaching yoga to kids & teens as soon as I complete training?

A. Yes. Yoga is not a legislated profession which means there is no law governing what you qualifications you need. We do however, have voluntary registration bodies (Yoga Australia & Yoga Alliance) who set Yoga training standards & guidelines. Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Training meets those standards & is registered with Yoga Alliance. You will need to have insurance + a "working with children" (police check) card + first aid certificate along with your Inspired Kids Yoga certificate before you start teaching.

Q. Do I have to be a Yoga Teacher to attend this training?

A. No. You can sign up for Calm Coach Level 1, 2, 3 without any prior yoga experience and learn how to guide kids & teens through movements; breathing; mediation & regulation activities. Calm Coach has been designed specifically for people who work with kids & want to include calm tools into their interactions with kids, without being a Yoga Teacher.

You also don't have to be a Yoga Teacher to join Inspired Kids Yoga Level 1 or 2, but you do need to have some experience practicing Yoga.

You DO need to be a Yoga Teacher to attend the Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Level 3 (95 hr RCYT) certification. This level of training allows you to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher but you first must have a 200 hr (or more) Yoga Teacher certificate.

Q. Do I need to register with Yoga Alliance?

A. No. Registration is voluntary. As a professional, my advice is always to follow the path that helps you to be the very best you can be.  When adhering to the guidelines of Yoga Australia/ Yoga Alliance, you will be participating in a lot of hours of study which will give you more knowledge; more experience; more liability and confidence. Being registered however, is not a requirement and not governed, policed, mandated or monitored.

Q. How do I become a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher?

Yoga Teachers can choose to register with either Yoga Alliance (international) or Yoga Australia (Australia & NZ).

To be a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher ("RCYT") with "Yoga Alliance" they require:  Level 1 Yoga Teacher (200 hours) + 95 hours with a Registered Children's Yoga School.  Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Training is a Registered Children's Yoga School ("RCYS") with Yoga Alliance. Stacey is a registered "Experienced Yoga Teacher"; "Registered Children's Yoga Teacher" and "Lead Trainer" of a "Registered Children's Yoga School" with Yoga Alliance.

Yoga Australia recommend that before you teach Children's Yoga you have a certificate in Level 1 Yoga Teacher (350 hours) + 50 hours of speciality Children's Yoga Teacher Training. However, Yoga Australia no longer have a specific registration category for Children's Yoga Teachers so this is just a recommendation and is not mandated or a legal requirement. Inspired Kids Yoga Teacher Training was a Registered Children's Yoga School ("RCYS") with Yoga Australia when it was a registration category up until 2019. Stacey is a registered Senior Level Yoga Teacher and Children's Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia.

In summary, to be a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher you need to have a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certificate + a 95 hour Children's Yoga Teacher Training certificate. This is recommended but not mandated.

Q. Can I get insurance without being a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher?

A. Yes. Most insurance companies will insure you for what you have trained in, as long as the training is certified. I can recommend an insurance company. Only teach the content that features in the training or only in contexts you are already qualified and insured in.  Eg. If you are a school teacher, you can incorporate what you have learnt into your classroom, provided your teaching insurance will cover you. If you are a Yoga Teacher, you can teach what you have learnt in the module and be covered under your Yoga Insurance. If you start your own business to teach Kid's Yoga, then only teach what features in this training.

Q. Have others set up their own business?

A. Yes, many people have set up their own business after the training and run classes, workshops and one on one sessions for kids. Others already had a business and integrated this into what they were doing.

Q. How else could this training be used?

A. Do you have an idea of how you would like to implement this work? Having a Calm Coach or Kid's Yoga Teacher qualification can be a great incentive for employees if they know you have an additional qualification in teaching calm tools and emotional regulation practices. So this can enhance the chances of working with children in school; day care; kindy; after school care; in allied health if you are wanting to work within those spaces in another role?

People often combine this with other qualifications they have already- tutor; counsellor; OT; nurse; teacher; educator; coach; play therapist etc.

Q. Is the course difficult?

A. Everyone will find the experience different, based on their past learning and their preferred learning styles. I don’t believe there is anything too complex in there. I have simplified explanations as much as possible. Some people are challenged by the online portion of the training which is self-paced. That is where the group calls help. Some students who identify as neurodivergent have struggled with the screen time, whilst others are totally fine with it. I've had teens do this training and were very capable. t is really individual. I suggest you start with Calm Coach Level 1 and see how it feels.

Q. What is the assessment?

A. Each level has a different assessment requirement. Calm Coach Level 1 has an optional assessment to write your own meditation. Other levels include some questions to answer. Kids Yoga Teacher Training requires you to submit class plans & practice teaching. Calm Coach requires you to work with real kids & self reflect.

Q. I can't make the group online calls- can I still join?

A. Yes. Whilst attending a call is ideal as it gives you more mentorship & a chance to ask questions in real time, if you can't make it, you can watch a replay of the recording.

Q. How long does Calm Coach / Kids Yoga Teacher Level 3 take to complete?

A. Most people take 9-12 months to complete it. We have 10 group calls on fortnightly basis. After that, you have 3 months to complete all of the course requirements. If you need an extension, we can decide together on a new finish date.

Q. What are the training hours?

A. The various levels of the training require different hours:

  • Calm Coach Level 1= 5 hours

  • Calm Coach Level 2= 22 hours

  • Calm Coach Level 3= 70 hours

  • Inspired Kids Yoga Level 1= 15 hours

  • Inspired Kids Yoga Level 2= 40 hours

  • Inspired Kids Yoga Level 2 + face to face = 50 hours (meets Yoga Australia standards for "Children's Yoga Teacher" Training)

  • Inspired Kids Yoga Level 3= 98 hours (meets Yoga Alliance standards for "Children's Yoga Teacher" Training)

Q. What is the cancellation policy?

Please ensure that this training is right for you, as I do not give refunds. This training is for people who are really committed to the work. I do understand that sometimes life throws us a curve ball, so I will consider exceptions provided in writing in extreme cases, at my discretion. In those cases, only a partial refund will be offered. This will be outlined in your registration contract.

Q. Do you offer scholarships & payment plans?

A. Yes. Payment plans are available. Each training offers a heavily discounted scholarship for someone who needs some financial support to achieve their dream. Please email me your request to be considered for a scholarship.

Q. Do I get a certificate?

Yes, you will receive a certificate outlining the areas you will be certified to teach & the hours of study.

Q. Am I too old? I am not sure if I am fit enough... etc etc

Sometimes, these kind of training opportunities can bring up the self doubt voice that says, "I am not enough".  It will come in all different versions- "I am not young enough...  fit enough... wealthy enough... smart enough... etc". I invite you to sit into this fear, and listen to that voice. Maybe it is an old, old voice that you know well. Ask it why it is coming up and why it wants to block you from this experience? If you are still seeking validation from me, then my answer is "YES. Yes you are enough." You can join the training at any age, with any level of fitness, income or other story. If your intention to teach yoga to kids and teens is true, and if this course feels aligned for you, then you will find a way to make it happen. And you will be welcomed with open arms.
